What It Means To Be a Fiduciary

May 10, 2022

When it comes to investing and looking for a financial advisor or professional, there are a few crucial traits that clients should consider.  The person you work with must be knowledgeable, trustworthy, and place you, the client, as their top priority.

There are many different credentials in the financial world, but not all denote the same standard of care.  The Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) is the only designation that holds its advisors to the fiduciary standard. Fiduciary means “involving trust, especially with regard to the relationship between a trustee and a beneficiary.”  In the context of financial planning, the CFP® Board refers to the fiduciary standard as “[the] standard of conduct should put the interests of the client first and should include both a duty of care and a duty of loyalty.”

Fiduciaries are becoming more important as the financial industry continues to evolve.  This evolution includes traditional products such as life insurance, variable annuities, mutual funds, Exchange-Traded-Funds (ETFs), along with more recent products such as cryptocurrency.

As fiduciaries we put your best interests at the forefront of every decision we make.  Being held to this standard, preparing a detailed written plan, and providing systematic monitoring of your plan and investments distinguishes us from the many “financial advisors”.

If you or someone you know would like to work with a CFP®, please contact our office.  With our team of dedicated advisors, you are in great hands.
