Financial Planning Investments, Inc. (FPI) is an insurance agency affiliated with, but legally separate from, FPS, a fee-only registered investment advisory firm. FPI operates as a commission-based insurance brokerage firm and is not affiliated with any single insurance carrier.
Certain managers, members, and registered employees of FPS are licensed insurance agents, either through Financial Planning Investments, Inc. or through unaffiliated insurance agencies. In such capacities, these individuals may recommend insurance products and may receive commissions or other compensation based on the sale of insurance products. This commission-based compensation presents a conflict of interest, as it provides an incentive to recommend insurance products over other alternatives.
FPS seeks to mitigate this conflict by maintaining policies and procedures designed to ensure that insurance recommendations are made only when there is a bona fide client need and when such recommendations are believed to be in the client’s best interest. Insurance products and related services are offered through Financial Planning Investments, Inc. or other unaffiliated insurance agencies, and not through FPS.
